In the fall of 2007, while watching their sons play flag football with the Omaha Racers, two homeschooling moms, Sheryl Walker and Phyllis Titus, dreamed of establishing a team closer to their homes in West Omaha. Working with Fast Forward Fitness, their dream became reality when the West Omaha Blazers took the field in September 2008. In early 2009, the team mutually agreed to end its association with Fast Forward Fitness and change the team’s name. The West Omaha Wildcats were born! In the spring of 2009, the search for a new head coach commenced and Aaron Titus, a former flag football player, home school graduate, and sophomore at UNO, was selected.

The first team started with 16 players and finished with a 1-8 record. The Wildcats quickly improved and have had numerous achievements over the years. The Wildcats were crowned Omaha Flag Football Tournament Champions in 2012, 2020, 2021, and 2023 (there were no tournaments from 2016-2018) and were champions at the KACS Tournament in Abilene, Kansas, in 2012 and 2015. The Wildcats achieved undefeated seasons in 2012 (14-0), 2016 (9-0), 2018 (13-0) and from 2015 to 2017, had a dominant run with a 29 game winning streak.

Today, Aaron Titus is still the Head Coach. After graduating college in 2021, former player, Bradley Bourland, joined the team as the Defensive Coordinator. The Wildcats have had many players return as assistant coaches, which is a testament to the culture of the "Wildcats Family."
